For The Architecture Fringe 2018 we present Tracings of Home, in this project we invite people to think about a time when they are older, what might your home of your future be like?
Living The Dream is a split-screen filmic encounter with Peter Womersley’s late modernist design studio built for Bernat Klein in the Scottish Borders and is presented in collaboration with JM Architects, Glasgow. A collaboration between two visual artists – Glasgow-based Ally Wallace and Lincolnshire-based David Carruthers – resulting in a collection of short animated films about architecture and the built environment. Whether the environment is a learning studio, a gymnasium, a media center or a laboratory, our goal as architects and designers is to enhance the user’s experience. With the theme of FREESPACE, the Biennale Architettura 2018 presents for public scrutiny examples, proposals, elements – built or unbuilt – of work that exemplifies essential qualities of architecture which include the modulation, richness and materiality of surface; the orchestration and sequencing of movement, revealing the embodied power and beauty of architecture. Furthermore, the brick, which speaks of civic buildings and public spaces, visibly extends to the dwelling’s interior, subtly connecting public and private realms to build a lively and robust sense of community.
In an era when people are increasingly opting to live in cities and our urban fringes are forever expanding outwards, Architecture Architecture understand the imperative to make more with less, opting for high quality flexible space rather than inflexible specialised spaces – quality over quantity. Embracing the philosophy of making more with less, Architecture Architecture have created a simple space with maximum flexibility to address contemporary living needs within a minimum floor area. Her experience includes land use planning, utilization analysis, renovation and expansion projects as well as new construction and medical office buildings.

The design competition asked participants to speculate on future methods of balancing environmental performance, social responsibility and economic growth, exemplifying architectural excellence and a high degree of transferability.”
